Wee little babies are susceptible to a lot of things. One of those things is RSV, a respiratory disease that affects nearly ever child by age two. In most babies and toddlers, symptoms are similar to those of the common cold and parents may not even know their child has the virus. However, because they don’t have the antibodies needed to fight off infection, newborn infants—especially those … [Read more...]

Sigh... Lucas turned two in February and it's like something switched in his brain. My sweet, cuddly, loveable, laid back baby? Yep, he is GONE. And in his place? This assertive, demanding, temper-tantrum throwing big (or so he thinks) boy. I am not a fan! We breezed past the twos with Adam, he was a delight. While the threes were a completely different story, I just assumed my sweet … [Read more...]
I've heard a lot of women talking about mommy makeovers, or having plastic surgery once they are done having children. Between breast implants and tummy tucks, the trend to restore your body to pre-pregnancy shape and size is on the rise. These "mommy makeovers" are getting so popular that even some cosmetic surgery offices offer special packages catered towards busy moms. Many mom's feel they … [Read more...]

After starting my own family, it was important for me to carry on traditions from when I was little as well as start brand new ones. The holidays are a very special time, one of my favorites, and being able to share that with my children has truly been special. Some of my favorite holiday traditions include...Holiday Baking. Ever since I was little, I remember being in the kitchen for hours, … [Read more...]

This coming Thursday, November 17th, is Preemie Awareness Day. While I haven't given birth to a premature baby, several very close friends have so it's a day that is near and dear to my heart. It's a day for remembrance, for those beautiful babies born too soon that didn't make it, and it's a day to educate. My God Daughter, born this past July, was born at 35 weeks gestation. While she didn't … [Read more...]
I've been thinking a lot about vaccines lately because every where I turn I see "get your flu shot here" signs and I don't want to blindly inject something into my (or my kids') bodies without a ton of researching to back up my decisions. I attended Shari Criso's My Baby Experts show tonight and the topic was vaccines. We watched a trailer for the "The Greater Good" movie and it definitely gave me … [Read more...]
There isn't anything cool or fun about poop. Nothing, nada. So why does my toddler insist on taking his diaper off to play with his poop? Yuck. Is it because I'm a mean mommy and put him down for a nap and he's all "ha mom, jokes on you!" and paints me a pretty poopy picture? I'm so over it. Kids are so gross. Adam never, ever did this (and I don't blame him, it's disgusting) so why is Lucas so … [Read more...]
In a recent study on vaccinations, results showed that vaccinated children have 2-5 times more diseases and disorders than unvaccinated children. Hmmm. We chose to vaccinate Adam when he was a baby. We were young and didn't know better. I honestly thought that vaccinating was the only option and that we didn't have a choice. Obviously, I didn't do any research and trusted Adam's … [Read more...]
Before having children, my idea of a hero was limited to someone who fought fires or protected our freedoms overseas, and while they are very much still heroes, motherhood has changed the definition of "hero" for me. … [Read more...]

The past few days have been so crazy! We've been preparing for my friend's baby shower and Adam's birthday, then my trip to BlogHer. My friend was due with my Goddaughter in early August but at 4am on Tuesday, I got a call for me to come over because her water broke! She wasn't in a lot of pain, so we decided to wait at home for a bit so she could shower, pack her bags, and just get things ready. … [Read more...]

Describing parenthood in just a sentence or two can be pretty tough but I've found some pretty great quotes that do just that. Each one is so ridiculously true! Ohh parenthood, gotta love it! 1) “A two-year old is kind of like having a blender, but you don’t have a top for it.” ~ Jerry Seinfeld 2) “We spend the first twelve months of our children’s lives teaching them to … [Read more...]

Today has been one of those days. Ya know, where the kids are all up in my junk and I can't even breath. Yep. Being a mama is hard work! Motherhood is better than I expected but I never realized all the little things I took for granted before having babies. It's the little things like... 1) Going to the bathroom in peace. And alone. 2) Sleeping through the night. 3) Eating hot … [Read more...]

I caught it. It's spreading so watch out. You have been warned. There's just something about wittle babies that make my heart swell and uterus ache. I love babies. I love nursing, I love the birth high, I love their smell, I love it all. I would love love love to have another baby. I also have an obsession for baby gear and my "I want this for my next baby" list is getting pretty long. We … [Read more...]

I love jewelry, especially hand stamped jewelry. Hand stamped jewelry make perfect Mother's Day gifts because it's something that is personalized and unique, something that no other mama will have. I had the opportunity to review a gorgeous necklace from JC Jewelry Design and get compliments on my necklace all the time! I chose to review a "family is key to my heart" necklace, personalized … [Read more...]
